My E-Portfolio
Hi! I’m Marek, an 8th grade student at AdVENTURE STEM. After being here for four amazing years, I can personally tell you that going to AdVENTURE was the best decision I have ever made. It has made me so confident in presentation that now I don’t feel scared at all when I have to present something in front of the class or even in front of the school. I also have had huge improvements with using technology. While at the beginning of 5th grade I was not at all confident with my computer skills, thanks to STEM I know how to browse the internet on a computer, how to use a program called Flash to build games, and how to program in 5 different coding languages! I have also learnt how to write much more efficiently because we have to write everything at AdVENTURE, which helps prepare us for college. Every week we write a science blog article online. I spend a lot of effort on this. Click here to see my blog! Being an AdVENTURE student means a lot to me. In this essay I will talk about what it means to be an AdVENTURE student. Firstly, being an AdVENTURE student means using technology each and everyday. This prepares us for engineering jobs in the 21st century. In every class, every person has their own computer. This is one of the reasons why AdVENTURE is such a great school. Making websites and videos is normal for us. Using computers, we can use innovative tools to learn and do our work. To learn about some of these tools, check out the tech tools page. With computers, we also learn how to program and how these programs work and how to code. If I didn’t go here, I would still write everything on paper and be the little fourth-grader who didn’t really use a computer much. This will help me find a dream job in Silicon Valley.
At AdVENTURE, we learn to work together. In most projects we have to work in teams and collaborate in order to make a product. This helps to prepare us for engineering jobs because most advanced jobs require people to work together. We learn how to incorporate our ideas with our teammate’s ideas in order to come up with something better. This is one of many things that makes AdVENTURE better than other schools.
What I probably like most about being an AdVENTURE student is the projects. Instead of learning by lectures, tests, and textbooks like many other schools, we are taught through amazing real-life projects in which we use concepts we have learnt to make awesome solutions to real-life problems. We do these projects all the time. Click through the subject pages to learn about all of these incredible projects. This is the main reason why I think AdVENTURE is the best school I could have gone to. I don’t learn very well from textbooks and presentations, and I get bored very easily. But by learning through projects at AdVENTURE, I think that learning is really fun and sometimes I can’t wait to do my work! This helps me to remember the concepts I have learnt for when I need them later, instead of just learning something and forgetting it the next day.

Being an AdVENTURE student has changed me so much in amazing ways. I’m no longer the little 5th grader who had no idea how to use a computer or collaborate. I’m now an AdVENTURE student who is on his for high school, college, and a 21st century job!
